My little sister is getting married in less than a month, and I’m waiting for the notification that my wedding guest dress has been delivered! I’m not a bridesmaid, so I’m at liberty to chose my own outfit. In fairness, we have eight other sisters as well as countless girl cousins, most of which the bride is closer to in age, so I understand that I wasn’t asked to be in the bridal party.
In total, my routine consists of 9 items, but I don’t every item each night, instead focusing on what my skin needs in the moment. I’ve stuck with some favorites while introducing two or three new things to the mix. The major difference is that I’m not currently using heavy, thick moisturizers like I did in the winter.
For as long as I can remember I would both dread and anticipate July. It was the month when the rivers around Portland were warm enough to swim in, and the weather finally hot enough. I’d become anxious and start dieting a few weeks before July. From the age of 11, I’ve always felt shame for my body.
